About Roots Birth Center and Family Wellness
Roots Community Birth Center was born out of a vision to make out-of-hospital birth accessible and welcoming for all families. Our space was created to make you feel comfortable, welcomed, at ease, and at home. We have extended that vision to make health care at all phases of life for all ages feel the same.
Roots is a small practice, and we intend to keep it that way. This allows us to maintain a personal connection and a sense of individuality with each of the families we serve. By being small, we are able to have room for the unique needs of each family. We have a diverse and dedicated team that believes in serving each family by meeting them where they are in their journey.
We are here for all families. We celebrate the richness that is a family no matter what that looks like. We are truly an open door for anyone looking for gentle, genuine and affirming care!

Just like that I snapped out of this trance like state and looked down at my baby boy. I covered him up to keep him warm and cooed to him and let him know mama was there.
For many parents, especially those preparing for their first baby, selecting a car seat can feel
daunting. It’s understandable and normal to need help with this process. In this blog, we’ll
explore frequently asked questions about car seats and offer some tips for picking the right car
seat for your family.
Though my Roots baby came in 2022, my story starts years earlier. I decided to pursue
out-of-hospital birth and midwifery care after reflecting on the birth of my first son, who was born
in a hospital.
At Roots Community Birth Center, we want you to have a positive and supportive birth experience. That’s why we encourage our birthing parents to have a doula present for the birth of their child. You might be wondering, “What is a birth doula?” or “What does a doula do or not do?” In this blog, we'll explore a birth doula's role and answer your questions about doulas in Minneapolis. Let's dive in!
